I recently built a pc with

MSI MAG B550 Tomahawk

AMD Ryzen 7 5700x

Corsair vengance LPX 2x16 3600 ddr4

2TB Samsung 970 evo plus

Some RTX 3060

after finishing the build and setting the bios up i got a bsod during the windows installation. I then launched memtest86 and saw multiple ram issues. After buying new ram ( G.SKILL Aegis 2x16 ddr4 3200) it worked fine for a few days, then programms started to crash and later windows had a permanent bsod. Memtest86 showed ram issues again. I suspect that I may have damaged the motherboard during the build but i dont want to waste any more money and effort if that doesnt work / there is an easier solution. Has anyone else ever encountered such an issue and can help?

Does it pass memtest when XMP (docp) is off?

Are you using the latest Bios?

Btw, the memory controller is on the CPU, not the motherboard. If you've bent a pin or two, there could be such issues.

There are a few things you can check.

Firstly is it seated properly in the slot? - You should be able to pull the tags that lock it in sideways and partially eject the RAM. Then push the stick back in evenly until the tabs lock back into place.

Secondly check that you have the sticks in the right slots. - For dual channel to work you will have to have the sticks in the correct slots. Read the manual to make sure you are using the right slots.

You can check the MSI site for the compatibility with your RAM. Although that is just a tested list. Any RAM with the right specs should work.

You can check if the BIOS is up to date. Firmware updates may fix some problems. Make sure to read all the notes that come with the BIOS update.

Just a couple of things to get you started.

If you're interested in a product please download and read the manual first.
