Should I buy the 4770K in the next 3 months or wait for the 4790K?

From what I have heard 4770k + 1up = 4790k

Except for minor changes (including the removal of the voltage regulator) of the die, its basicly the same thing.

Chances are, that you can't really overclock the 4790k because with a clock of 4MhZ it CAN be almost at it's limit.

My recommendation: get whats cheaper.

Devils Canyon will NOT be compatible with z87 boards btw.

I honestly do not think it will make much difference

 

I know people on here are obsessed with overclocking, but frankly something like a 4770k even at stock or with an OC will do everything you want to do. If you are not desperate for a PC then sure wait and get the new and slightly better stuff

 

But if you dont feel like waiting for months and paying more money, then just get a z87 and 4770k

i'd say wait for the 4790k since price difference isn't hat much between these tiers & you can get later functionality & product  from a newer line of processors

they are cherry pick cpus,with better tim that will do 5ghz on air.

however even stock is fine

Can you link me that part with the cherry picked cpus?

 

Also, better TIM will not mean the cpu will overclock better, only the temperatures will be lower.

Devils canyon is the exact same chip as a 4770k except for being better binned (taken from middle of the wafer) and having better Tim under the hood. This makes it better at being high clocked and remaining there. Also its still haswell so its compatible with all 8 and 9 series chipsets.

If you already have the 70k no need to spend money. If you dont, wait for the 90k version :)

Dont upgrade you will have to get a new mobo and its only 3.6ghz stock instead of 3.5ghz
