my computer doesn't detect Ethernet cable

When I plug in my Ethernet cable into my computer doesn't detect it. It started out of nowhere I tried everything I could I dont know what to do anymore.

do we get to know anything else like what you tried or what the computer is or what the network setup is or what os or is that it?

I tried using other cables or restarting my pc and I tried plug it back in or unplug it

Is this a newly built PC? Or did this just happen on an otherwise working PC?

I would suggest going to the manufacturer's webpage for the motherboard, going to the section for the drivers, and downloading the LAN drivers (via a separate PC that can actually connect to the internet of course, and put them on a USB drive to transfer to the PC)

Do you have any lights indicating any sort of link? If not, your onboard NIC is dead.

thanks for the reply PC is like month old it was working fine and stoped detecting it yesterday out of nowhere

Sometimes Windows Update  can screw things up. Look up in Windows Update history what was installed, if it installed new network card drivers then uninstall those and reinstall the ones that came with the motherboard (or available on the website)

I just don't see an ethernet port randomly dying. Very unlikely. Blow some air into it. Or check if you disabled it one way or the other.

I’ve had this happen on a personal system. It’s not that uncommon.

You can try taking it to an electronics repair shop. There is nothing you can do unless you have the tools and know how to diagnose the fault and replace the necessary component(s).

 

It may be cheaper to get a new motherboard than try to get that fixed.
