Are these temps good? RTX 3080 Aorus Master Rev2

Recently got a second hand 3080 and heard about Gigabyte shipping crappy thermopads, but appears they might fixed it with this Rev 2

I haven't done a Furmark Stess test due to my PSU didn't like it when I ran Furmark with prime 95...  Furmark benchmark and Timespy passed alright.

Max Temp after running TimeSpy

GPU 70.0 C

Memory 82.0 C

Hotspot 84.7 C

(forgot to log ambient... probably something 24-25 C)

Idle

GPU 45C

Memory 50.0

Hotspot 55.4

Ambient 25

Here is the TimeSpy graph the Graphics score seems normal for a 3080, looks like in Demo I have a little bit CPU bottleneck 5800X3D later this year or next...

7900XTX is also almost 2.5 times more expensive here 😉

I hope you got almost 3 times more performance than mine

LoL

I still got year of warranty on mine, but I bet I probably don't need it.

But I bet the score can go a bit higher once I get my hands on a 5800X3D <.<

LOL!   It's not twice as fast when it's defective - typical AMD 🙂    I doubt 'twice as fast' too.

7900 series is WAY OVERPRICED everywhere except the USA.   AMD finally reduced the price for some of the cards but only in the USA.

These cards suffer from overheating, VR problems (until today?), high power consumption especially when idle/using multiple monitors - and for some ppl - various crashes - in games or using certain software.

They're not good for AI or rendering - awful performance for an expensive gpu - it might only be as good as a 4060 Ti.

I might have considered a 3090 in your shoes - but, the 7900 series is a pretty bad value unless you live in one of these American locations - that has discounts - usually Microcenters with open box options.   Imho, 'you wait for a while before buying one of these cards.

vr and idle issues were fixed in the recent update

overheating wasnt a thing with my gpu, was always under 65°

ai or rendering isnt needed, outperfroms a 4080 wich a must cheaper price tag

as good as 4060ti???? that thing isnt even remotely better than a 3060ti

we found the nvidia shill

its way faster than 6950xt, (wich is only 600 bucks AND faster thn 3090ti, so no, 3090 wouldnt be a better pick)

i bought it for 1150, yes its a steep price, but a price im willing to pay for its performance

The 7900 XTX is only as good as a 4060 Ti in Blender.   Unless some miraculous new benchmarks show otherwise.   The idle issues are fixed?  Really, where?

The only shill here is you - another AMD shill to add to the collection! 🙂

you said the 7900xtx is as good as 4060ti

you never said in blender

thus you generalised it and said it was that bad on a global level

wich it isnt

and amd gpus arent made for blender or rendering

for those go nvidia

nvidia is for productivity

amd is for gaming

they both have different uses and anything besides gaming cannot be compared to ane another because they werent build for those things

Obviously, I meant for rendering (blender).

Nvidia can be used for gaming, too.   The cards are as good or almost as the 7900 XT/XTX - they're just priced more expensive - which is bad on nvidia - but, as general gpus - they're good cards - 4090 - best and the 4080 is also pretty decent.   They're both good at gaming AND rendering - so, they are dual purpose if you will.

Yeah, AMD is for gaming - only.   To me, that's pretty disappointing - so, I wouldn't want to overspend when it's a one-function card.

Who?

I've been using computers since around 1978, started learning programming in 1980 on Apple IIs, started learning about hardware in 1990, ran a BBS from 1990-95, built my first Windows PC around 2000, taught myself malware removal starting in 2005 (also learned on Bleeping Computer), learned web dev starting in 2017, and I think I can fill a thimble with all that knowledge. 😉 I'm not an expert, which is why I keep investigating the answers that others give to try and improve my knowledge, so feel free to double-check the advice I give.

My phone's auto-correct is named Otto Rong.🤪😂

Just a side note - 12600K gets twice the CPU score ~14k
