Computer Randomly Crashes with no blue screen

Yasha328
Go to solution Solved by bradscoolio,

bradscoolio the problem is that I can't run memtest for more than 30 min without the computer shutting off.

Ah, yes, I see now. If everything else is stable and your pc just shuts down regardless then that only leaves your power supply.

PSU was coincidentally step 4 but i left that step out for the other guy because his problem didn't sound like a psu issue.

Anyway.

Step 4: Test the PSU on another computer. try running it like you run yours and see if it crashes, If it does, that's your issue. RMA it if it's under warranty, if not, throw it a wall really hard and buy a new one ;)

My PC has recently started randomly crashing and then restarting with no blue screens. I have tested the memory, cpu, and gpu, all of them work fine so I was wondering if the psu could be the problem?

Have you installed any software recently? If so, try removing it and seeing what happens after that. If not, I'd give the PSU a test. Unplug all the cables from your system, and attempt to boot up the PSU that way. I'll post a link to a video showing you how to do it.

Can you look into event viewer and see if you got any critical Kernel power errors?

Post a picture if you do.

Ah, I had the same issue, it ended up being dead RAM.

How have you been testing all your components?

Yes I have had 6 critical kernel power errors since the beginning of this problem

Error 41 is a hardware falt.

My post from an older thread

The dreaded event 41 :/ These crashes are due to a hardware failure.

Here is a thread on this already on Microsoft forums: http://answers.micro...22-7e3fb6d4174a

Now from here on we can start diagnosing the hardware issue.

1st step: Disable all overclocking.

2nd step: Memory seems to be the most probable cause to me so i'd run Memtest86 for 4+ hours to determine whether you memory is stable. Just install this to a USB and change your boot priority to the USB in your BIOS, This will return any memory errors if you have any. The program's very strait forward, it won't hurt your PC.

Alternatively you could run LinX, does the same thing only in windows. I'll attach this program for you to download.

3rd step: Run Prime95 on small FFT minimum 24 hours to determine if your cpu is stable.

At all during the steps if you get any errors report back here immediately dropping the other steps. Use this post as a quote and state what error you got and when. Happy Troubleshooting  :)

Hope this helps :)

It turns out it was the psu. After changing back to my old psu the computer worked perfectly for 24 hours with prime 95 and 4 hours with memtest
