So I watched Austin Evans video about jailbreaking a while back.

I remember some things he said, mainly along the lines of "iOS with customization".

Questions:

-Is the above statement true?

-Is jailbreaking illegal? (if this one is true don't both answering the rest)

-What are the risks of jailbreaking

-How would I jailbreak?

Thanks!

Have a good day :)

EDIT: IDK if there is a section for mobile. sorry if there is one.

Someone told Luke and Linus at CES 2017 to "Unban the legend known as Jerakl" and that's about all I've got going for me. (It didn't work)

Yeah, it's awesome.

It's legal

You can brick the thing, but it is a really low possibility

Just look at a guide, I used RedSnow's (I think that's the name) program and it worked great, but it was on IOS 6

You can also very easily revert the jailbreak, the only problem I had with it was that once you get a lot of stuff the phone can start crashing every once in a while.

Yes, it is true that it will allow for a lot of customization.

As for the second question, it doesn't matter. Even if it were, they would never pursue you.

The only risk is a very, and I mean very slim possibility of bricking the device. Don't let it scare you.

And you jailbreak using a specific program, dependent on the device and version of iOS. It is quite easy, easier than unlocking and rooting an Android device and about at the same level of difficulty as setting an iPhone up.

From the proud owner of a jailbroken iPhone 5. If you ever have any questions, feel free to hit me up here through PMs or on Teamspeak (teamspeak.ltt-unofficial.net) or Steam (TheSLSAMG)

EDIT: It doesn't add stability issues unless you install incompatible software, As @TheNinjaNextDor said, it is easily revertable, but make a backup of the device in iTunes or on iCloud before you jailbreak so you don't lose any prior data.

As a customization example, this is my iPhone now:

1. Yes. It makes the device much more (don't kill me) Android-like with customization for everything.
2. As of right now, no. Anyways, even if it was, there is like NO chance they'd pursue you. Apple would purse the root cause: the suppliers. Think about downloading illegal music. There is NO way the artist is gonna get you in trouble, just the big name websites that provide you with the links.

3. Other than bricking your device (its okay it can be fixed and the chance of you actually doing that is ineligible), no there isn't any reason why you shouldn't. There is a myth that your device is gonna degrade over time because its jailbroken. Thats ridiculous.

4. Just google it.

Trust me, it makes TOO much sense to jailbreak your device.
