Can you provide a bit more context? Type of file? Why you suspect it might not be safe?

If for example you're downloading counterstrike2crack.exe then it's almost certainly dangerous.

 

Use common sense. Is the file type what you would expect for that type of file? For example if you get sent a photo it shouldn't be a .exe file or some other filetype you might not recognise. Do you trust the source? Is it from a legitimate source such as the official website or is it from some sketchy site?

Scan the file with antivirus software before running it.

If in doubt don't open it.

how would one go about an extension on email, that looks like is from a legitimate corporation/company no errors, all the visuals etc. in check?
