Define R4 or Air 540?

i would go for R4 because its cheaper than air 540. hahaha

It is expensive

 

My server is in a Define R4, very nice case, I got the non-windowed version because it just a server but with the sound dampening foam and great airflow it is very cool and very quiet

 

My rig is in a 300r, was going to get a 350d or air 540 but decided the 540 was way too large on my desk 

I just did some measurements and the 540 will fit on my desk but will be only a couple inches off my monitor.

It's not rocket science...

Well I'm sorry, I don't have the ability to turn into you and know everything you look for in a case and which you think looks better ect. It's a complete opinion part of your build, and is not like asking which GPU you should go with.

 

IN MY OPINION, The Define R4. However my opinion is completely irrelevant to what YOU think.

The r4 if your aim is silence, for air flow go with the 540.

The Air540 is a great case, but it does seriously lack some features, they have not fully utilized the back chamber in order to add more 3.5" drives to it, and the lack of dust filter for intakes aren't appealing given the price point.

 

The Define R4 is another great case, very well built and looks stunning with it's side panel window that only shows your mobo area. 

 

In the end both cases are great options, you will just need to pick whichever one you think will suit your build.
