Newegg is selling the 2TB version of the Intel 670p SSD for just $80.

The drive is just Gen 3 and QLC, but does feature a DRAM cache. Read performance is up to the 3,500 MB/s expected for a Gen 3 drive. Write performance is still decent at up to 2,700 MB/s, although this would only be sustained until the cache is exhausted - given the drive's QLC nature, it will fall off pretty hard after that. However, it does have solid endurance at 740 TBW.

 

This drive would be a good choice for either a high capacity budget boot drive or secondary drive. At 2TB, this should make it basically ideal for storing games and video files. Given the QLC limitations, I generally wouldn't recommend this drive for individuals looking to do heavy media work as a primary drive for video editing, but given its large total capacity, its cache capacity is formidable. It shouldn't be too bad if the size of the footage at ingest is always smaller than the cache capacity. Tom's Hardware found performance fell off at about 280GB written and after that performance was around 400MB/s - which isn't too awful, at least faster than a HDD. The TBW value should also be considered, if you are going to be refreshing the drive with video files frequently.

As an owner of this drive who also got theirs at $80 last years, this drive offers tremendous value. 19TB writes since last year, only 98% life remaining.
