good day , good evening
here is my issue:
when i'm in some games and decide to move the camera i get a delay between my action and the result. this isnt like input lag it happens strictly when in games.
my cpu and GPU arent even near 100% when this happens
the only thing that i have as an info is that for some reason in valorant when this bug happens my CPU latency shoots up to 240ms which causes the "lag" i'm guessing.

i'm guessing i've got a bottleneck somewhere but i've trouble figuring out where the problem come from? does anyone have an idea ?
my wild guess is that it comes from the ram but if i'm posting here it's because i'm not sure.

thanks in advance for all your help.

My specs are:

  • Microsoft Windows 11 Professional (x64) Build 22623.1180
  • GIGABYTE B450 AORUS PRO-CF bios : F61c  date : 05/10/2021
  • AMD Ryzen 7 2700X
  • Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO 32 GO (4 x 8 GO) DDR4 DRAM 2 666 MHz C16
  • NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 ( KFA2 GeForce RTX 2070 EX (1-Click OC) v2, 8 Go)
  • Samsung SSD 970 EVO Plus 500GB boot drive
  • Samsung SSD 970 EVO Plus 500GB storage drive (different drive)
  • TOSHIBA DT01ACA100  2nd storage drive
  • Cooler Master V1000, 1000W
NB  sorry for the English which may contain some errors

I agree with the answer mentioned here.

However, I'm guessing you don't want: "buy a new CPU" as the answer 🙂

So, here's some things you can try that may improve (not completely fix) the issue.  💡Added Bonus:  If you get a new CPU, these tips can still help!

#1:  Update to the latest BIOS.  I would link to the BIOS, but I'm having trouble verifying the exact Motherboard you have.

fTPM (which I see you need to have enabled since you're running Windows 11) and AMD BIOS have had long-standing issues with stuttering and latency.  There's a good chance upgrading your BIOS won't make it any worse.

#2:  Update to the latest Chipset Drivers

#3: While it may seem counterintuitive, if the above doesn't seem to help, try disabling low-latency options in the Nvidia drivers and/or game mode/hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling in Windows 11

#4:  Completely close any programs you don't need (Discord, OBS, OneDrive, etc.).  Disable every overlay that you can.  NVidia overlay, Microsoft Game Bar overlay, etc.  In your specific case, this may help because the CPU is likely running near max capacity and freeing cycles may help.

#5:  Try whitelisting Valorant in your Anti-virus (and if you're using something besides Windows Security, try using Window Security instead and see if that improves anything

You are right in guessing that the hypothetical reply " get a new cpu" while true doesnt scream "hey bro trust me i now things"
but the rest of your reply helped i do get a slightly better perfomance after doing all those steps

i will have to check in with other games also because  some of them i'm pretty sure i could run fine when the computer was new

how likely knowing this do you think this could be linked to something completely different ?

i have been contemplating buying in the new generation of AMD cpu and gpus but it would still help me to figure out if i can salvage some parts of this

to help friends

Great! I'm glad that helped!  You've asked some good questions... there's a couple of things that come to mind that could also be affecting it:

  • Cooling... maybe you've moved the PC and the heatsink got knocked around on the CPU, maybe the heatsink is loose, or maybe the cooler is full of cat hair 🙃
  • RAM settings:  RAM settings can have substantial impact on performance
    • Maybe there was a power outage, or something and you had XMP settings enabled or something and now it's defaulted back to stock
  • Using Windows 11 fTPM didn't need to be enabled on Windows 10, but running Windows 11 requires it... and like I linked above, it's possible you're noticing some micro stuttering related to that.
  • RGB software or some other weird software causing issues: this is a long-shot and given the suggestions I gave previously, I think you would've caught anything like this.  If you remember installing anything specifically and then the issue started, might be worth taking a look

If I'm going to sit here and guess, I'm going to go with RAM 😛  Is the RAM one 4-stick kit? Or did you combine two two-stick kits?  If it's the latter, take out one of the kits, and then overclock your RAM as much as the computer will handle, and see if you notice any improvement.

Check the graphics settings of the games this is happening in and see if “Ambient Occlusion” is turned on. If so, turn it off and see if that helps
