Okay, so it's my first time building a gaming rig and I'm planning on playing at 1440p (sometime across all 3 of my monitors)

Will this be able to handle it:

i7 4770k (OC)

MSI Z87 GD65 Gaming

12GB hyper X beast RAM 1866mhz

2 x MSI Nvidia GTX 760

512GB samsung evo SSD

2tb WD HDD

Corsair H55 AiO CPU cooler

Corsair 750D

A load of corsair fans

I think that's all the info you'd need to judge it.

(I'm new to the forum so I don't even know if I'm doing this right!)

Thanks a load guys.

So wait triple 1440p gaming and only dual gtx 760s?

Don't even bother with a H55.

I don't know where to begin.

Spoiler

Corsair 400C- Intel i7 6700- Gigabyte Gaming 6- GTX 1080 Founders Ed. - Intel 530 120GB + 2xWD 1TB + Adata 610 256GB- 16GB 2400MHz G.Skill- Evga G2 650 PSU- Corsair H110- ASUS PB278Q- Dell u2412m- Logitech G710+ - Logitech g700 - Sennheiser PC350 SE/598se

Is it just me or is Grammar slowly becoming extinct on LTT?

ditch the liquid cooler, its not worth it if it isnt a dual rad, get a air cooler, a dark rock 3 would destroy the h55 at the same price.

Must be the price? Buy one now get one later. Thats the only thing I can come up with.

Welcome! How do you plan in getting 12gb of ram? You want to do 8+4gb? I'm not sure 2x 760s are the best choice, while they perform well for the money, they don't have much vram and almost no room for upgrades. What about a 780 or 780ti? What's your total budget for the system and where are you buying from? We might be able to put together a better part list for you.

A few tips to make your planning go smoother  ;)

  • Try out pcpartpicker for part searching and compatibility
  • Unless you have one graphics card already, a powerful single card will be better than SLI/Crossfire dual cards.
  • There's a build planning subforum here on LTT

Also, you would be better off with a 4670k and a better CPU cooler like an H100i if you want to go that route, unless you have a need to do CAD or an excessive amount of video rendering. There are also slightly cheaper, comparable air coolers like the NH-D15 that will perform just as well.

CPU: i5 4670k • Cooler: Corsair H100i • Motherboard: MSI Z87 MPOWER • RAM: Crucial Ballistix Elite 2x 8GB • Storage: Samsung 840 250GB SSD, 2x WD Red 3TB • GPU: EVGA GTX 780 3GB • PSU: Corsair RM750W • Case: Corsair 750D • Mouse: Razer Naga 2012 (I actually use the thing for productivity/media buttons) • Keyboard: Ducky Shine 3 w/ Browns - Green LED • Monitor: Asus PB278Q 27" 2560 x 1440, ASUS PB238Q 23" 1920x1080 • Lighting: 2m NZXT Sleeved Blue LED Strip • pcpartpicker.com/p/3cHfZ

Unless you already have one (in which case just buying another makes sense), there's not really a price benefit over buying a 780. About £400 either way.

If the games he plays prefer amd cards

The r9 290/x will be the choice for 1440p gaming.

Correct me if I am wrong.

Budget? Uses? Currency? Location? Operating System? Peripherals? Monitor? Use PCPartPicker wherever possible.

@ShadowCaptain that may be great but we don't even know what games he want to play nvidia based or amd ?

tell us your budget and what games you want to play at those screens it would help us better to help you

True, I  am talking in general, across all types of games, it doesnt really matter if they are AMD based or not when you have a card with that much horsepower

But I agree with better knowing his budget and how he will use it, just telling my experiance to help the OP gauge what I feel is the necessary power to play the latest AAA games at ultra 1440p

Not necessarily, On a high end system things like Mantle dont really make much difference, it would matter if he was using an AMD cpu/APU as things like mantle would greatly benefit using a less powerful CPU

You can see what I mean looking at the graphs on this article

I see, but that report don't really say much. Only way to find out is building my own A10-7850 rig with the MSI 290x Lighting. Yes I gone nuts.:D
