Budget (including currency): US$ 500? (exc. disks)

Country: Based out of Taiwan

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for:  NAS - largely just for backup but of fairly large contiguous files (VMs)

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

The idea is a NAS build for deep backup.  I plan to install TrueNas.  Access will either be over SSH or via GUI (on another machine) on the LAN.  I've ruled out mini-atx boards seems they seem crazy expensive.

So far I am thinking of:

- Fractal NODE-804-BL case

- MB ASUS Prime B550M-K

- AMD AMD Ryzen™ 5 4500 6-Core

- DDR4 Hynix HMA42GR7MFR4N-TF DDR4-2133 16GB x2 (32Gb total) - I've not dug into compatability

- NIC Intel I210-T1

It seems that the CPU is an overspec.  It seems something like Intel C3558 would be fine?  That also leaves a power supply and cooling -- but the later I guess is influenced by the CPU.

I've got 4xTB WD Red which I'm thinking to configure as Raid Z1

Any input on any part of the build would be very helpful.  Thanks!

yup a much slower cpu would work. Id go with something like a i3 or pentium. There cheaper and have a igpu.
