I'm planning on using my laptop as a second monitor for my PC, my question is: does the laptop still use its own GPU, CPU, and other parts when I use it as a second monitor? For now, I'm using mouse without borders (via ethernet cables) but I'm planning on connecting the laptop to my PC's GPU (via HDMI cable). If it doesn't end up using its own GPU, CPU, etc., then I suppose I'll just stick to Mouse Without Borders, and even though my PC's specs is leagues better than it, it still feels like a waste not using its 1650ti and other parts.

If you configure it as a secondary monitor then all it does will be receiving display output. A computer will only work as much as the workload you've put them through, if you don't do anything then it will sit at idle.

Does your laptop have a display input? I've never heard of a laptop that has a display input

It's going to be impractical. You have the whole keyboard part of it on your desk then. I' d go for a proper monitor

Less hassle. Also,

external capture card

Even then you need some sort of input. You output to the capture card from you laptop

I sometimes wonder how we went to space on only 4KB RAM, and we cannot fix a simple issue.

Yes you can have the laptop as second monitor. Why not?

But the laptop will still be running at close to idle to process the input from the capture card.

So yes it will still be using all the hardware.
