How to use a macbook with a separate display

Kuldar_Joel

How do I connect a separate display to a macbook in a way that when I close the macbook lid, it doesn't go to sleep?

Thanks in advance!

that one I'm not too sure. I only know of the screen issue from someone who made a server farm using a bunch of m1 macbooks and they ended up winging about it for 3 entire hours on slack because they could not get the stupid things to run with the lid closed and had to redesign the enclosures.

My Mac is closed and has no issues with external displays.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.

Plug the Mac into power. When you do that the Mac enters "clam shell mode" and you will get a video signal out.

Your MacBook needs to be connected to power in order to use it with an external display while the lid is closed.

This is incorrect. Clamshell mode does exactly what you're saying can't be done.
