Interesting fact, MSN messenger had basically all of the core functionality of Facebook messenger and it also had a user profile that your friends could follow. MSN even had a literal news feed in the form of MSN News. MS basically screwed up on absorbing Facebook's key market.

Well ya I just remembered about ICQ, I know a guy whose dad met his mom on ICQ, and they named him after his dad's username

thankfully it was just "Rix", man I hope these days is gonna have a kid with someone they met on discord just to name the kid "rizzler6ㆁ⁠ω⁠ㆁ9", is that a 2010s thing or did people in 2000s also had usernames like that?

Same as many. AIM, MSN, and various Message Boards. Also I was big into gaming clans back them for Starcraft and CS Source.
