AK 620 Zero Dark CPU Cooler Fan Buzzing At around 1200-1300 RPM

Go to solution Solved by Tan3l6,

Well at least it does not sound like something is rubbing against the fan. Have you tried moving the fan blades part apart from the frame? Maybe that helps?

But yeah, it sounds quite quiet, even when I turn up my volume.

Hello, so I recently upgraded my system and I got a AK 620 as my CPU cooler. The Cooling is good enough and I don't get thermal throttled. But recently It has started to make quite loud buzzing noise at around 1200-1300 RPM. Other than that the sound cannot be heard. My question is could it be just a fan rubbing against the fins or something like that or is the fan faulty?

Very difficult to tell if not hearing it in first person.

Maybe you can record the sound?

A bit difficult to hear and some background noises, but there is a smaller buzz on acceleration and then a larger on on deacceleration.

Seems like the sound is made when the separate parts of the heatsink under their own weight push on the middle fan. When I very slightly moved them apart and did the test again, there was no buzz. So I guess I just figure out how to add a very thin spacer somewhere to keep it from crushing the middle fan?

Seems a good solution.
