Need Help on RX 6650XT

Hello everyone, good day!

 

I want to ask regarding the GPU RX 6650XT setting (especially the UV/OC Profile and Fan Curve)..

Details:

Currently I'm using B450 Tomahawk Max with Ryzen 5 5600 and just bought Powercolor Hellhound RX 6650XT. I noticed the default setting from AMD Adrenalin Software (22.11.2) isn't too great causing GPU Temp and Hot Spot Temp is high (Hot Spot can reach 90-93C) when full load. I heard that Undervolting the GPU is beneficial for AMD Cards. But when I tried setting the profile manually, it usually restarts the setting when I turn off and turn on back the PC. I also tried adjusting Fan Curve but since I'm a beginner, I can't get the best performance (sometimes the fan is too loud and still high temperature). Is there any RX 6650XT users here that have stable setting for Undervolt / Overclock and Fan Curve? Or is there any tips for beginner to set up the GPU itself on AMD software?

 

The last setting that I tried:

GPU Tuning : Max freq 2689 Mhz (Default boost from Powercolor)

Voltage : 1130 mV

VRAM Tuning : Max Freq 2222 MHz

Power Limit : 10%

Fan Tuning : Only disable zero RPM and max fan speed 75% (not touching the advanced control)

Those temperatures are fine. But if you need the card to be a bit quieter and maybe draw a few W less, I'd just open MSI Afterburner, decrease the power by 10% and make it apply on startup.

Hey and thank you for the answer! I see, do you use AMD Card as well as the software? I believe the Adrenalin Software can tweak things more than MSI Afterburner, but it can get very complicated especially for beginners like me.. I've tried finding guide videos on Undervolt but couldn't really find it.

Yes, I do, I use mostly Radeons since some 20 years ago.

Adrenalin has many options, but in order to apply an OC (for example) you need to create a profile and havi it load... MSI afterburner seves me since it came out (also decades ago).

Ah okay thankyou for the answer. Yes I've tried to save the OC/UV profile, do I need to load it every time I boot PC? Sometimes when I boot the PC, the profile is still active but sometimes it reset with notification "... Wattman has been restored". Is it because the profile isn't stable enough?

That's right, if Wattman resets it it means there was a driver crash.

Adrenalin software can NOT tweak more than afterburner. Afterburner so far is the be-all-end-all solution, it is the most granular and advanced way to tune your card. The only thing radeon software can do is auto oc / auto undervolt but those tend to be weak and dont beat a manual oc / undervolt.

 

Also what radeon software does with the clocks is that you set a "maximum" clock speed which will most likely never reach unlike in afterburner.
