Overclock

I got a new computer https://www.newegg.com/msi-aegis-se-3sa-408us/p/N82E16883151129?Item=N82E16883151129 and I also installed ram into it https://www.newegg.com/corsair-16gb-288-pin-ddr4-sdram/p/N82E16820236540?Item=N82E16820236540

Every time I want to edit a video with davinci resolve, I render it with 60 fps and 1080p it always triggers high cpu usage, I want it to stop it from doing that and I was wondering if it would be safe to over clock my cpu from the bios and the gpu on msi afterburner, if it is safe and nothing will get harmed please inform me on how to safely overclock it via afterburner and bios, but if overclocking won't fix the alert, what will?

Well you cant. That literally what its supposed to do. Overclocking your graphics card through MSI afterburner also wont overclock your CPU

You dont overclock your CPU through afterburner. Afterburner is strictly a GPU overclocking and also monitoring tool.

Afterburner is for the gpu overclocking, what about the cpu overclock, what should I use?

Depends on the CPU, but generally speaking if your CPU is overclockable and makes sense to overclock you do so through the BIOS. That's a Ryzen CPU though, which just means enable PBO and call it a day since manual overclocking of that chip gets you nowhere (5% uplift in Cinebench and a 5-10% performance decrease in games).

Ok, what about the gpu overclocking with afterburner, what is a safe amount to over clock and I've also hear that you can't just increase the values then call it, you have to do something else.

Dude. Read what people say.

 

The issue isnt how your CPU is having issue, nor davinci resolve. Its Norton Security. I highly recommend just uninstalling it altogether and get yourself a far less invasive antivirus or built-in Microsoft Defender, but im most definitely sure that its alert is definitely able to be disabled, check the notifications settings. Fucking laughable that this app will alert an actually resource heavy tasks instead of actual background malware and then also transform itself into a resource hog app if you idle for just 1 fucking minute or doing its severely invasive full scan.

 

If you are still curious about CPU overclocking regardless of your issue though, you should check if the BIOS even allows it in the first place. Prebuilts have a pretty locked down BIOS to prevent you from doing anything to its power target to comply with power usage legislations of certain countries. Also try Ryzen Master in particular as you own a Zen based system.

If you cant see it in control panel, check windows 10/11 settings app, on the "apps" tab. Yeah, i also hate how its 2 separate application to access similar function.

Yeah time for deeper check and uninstall. Bulk Crap Uninstaller is a super strong app for uninstalling, sort by publisher and uninstall everything with norton and symantec written as the publisher.
