Mini LED ultrawide 1440p monitors

Alesek

Hi, I am looking for a monitor miniLED ultrawide (21:9) 1440p monitor but can't really find anything and whatever is there is super expensive. Whats up with that? I don't want oled because I spend more time working on in than gaming so ill have a burn in very quickly

So far what I've seen is:
AOC AG344UXM - looks absolutely horrible, not really available in NL either, not a fan of AOC
Innocn 34E7R - Just announced, might take a while
MSI MEG Artymis 341 - Announced in 2021, where the hell is it?!
Philips 34M2C7600MV - The best one so far but 2300 euros is hurting my soul
ViewSonic XG341C-2K - Almost bought it until I found out it is only an 8bit panel

Am I missing anything else or are these really the only monitors "available"?

I know it is expensive, not sure why the monitors are almost double the price of OLEDs but whatever. I am just wondering if there are any other monitors I might have missed

I dont want OLED because I spend about 10x more time coding than gaming so I will for sure get burn in and wont benefit that much from OLED. Also it doesnt have USB-C or KVM

The production cost of mini-LED will not be cheap.

For example, one of the reviewer had dismantle the Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 and this monitor had 4098 mini-LED, not like normal monitor few bars of LED only. Beside this they need to have engineer to proper make 4098 mini-LED to have 2048 local dimming zone. It is not as easier as building a normal LED LCD.

Your best bet is to just get a TV (as with any high end display tech, TV is much cheaper, sometime better than monitor.) Samsung mini-LED like QN90B 43 inches have a 21:9 mode which will essentially turn it into an ultrawide (by turning the rest of the display into black bar) or you can just resize the height of your windows and use it with a monitor arm.

How to play games in ultrawide aspect ratio on Q70A, Q80A, QN85A and QN90A (seekingtech.com)

QN90B 43 and 50 inches are a substantial downgrade from the proper 55 inches and above however (which has a much faster response time, better viewing angle and local dimming zone), but they are also cheap and better than most display in the market today. If you can though, go 55 inches is a better use of your money (especially if you are using 21:9 mode anyway)

Let's say 2k euros max. The thing is that I might have listed all the mini leds that are available and none of them fit the criteria.

Anyway, here is my unicorn criteria.

I am gonna use it for coding more than gaming so no OLEDs. Usb-c is a must, KVM is a nice plus. Also if i am paying almost 2k, don't give me an 8 bit panel (looking at you, Viewsonic). 21:9 1440p miniled or something with lot of dimming zones

I actually really like the idea but it wouldn't fit my desk. I have a second monitor mounted above my current monitor. Putting it any higher will be ridiculous

USB-C is a must, will be an issue. KVM even less.

Samsung got a very nice mini-LED but none meet your criteria as one is 32:9, another is 16:9. Also both no USB-C. The only meet for criteria is true 10-bit panel.

Hmnn I honestly would just get rid of that second monitor - or maybe put it at the side and use the 43 inches in full 16:9 as you can rearrange the upper part of the screen to be used instead of the second monitor. It's not that bad, I've used that setup in my job during wfh period as well (and on that note, might as well consider Aorus FV43U, it's not a mini-LED but it can do HDR pretty well, have USB-C and KVM, plus a lot cheaper.)

But if you must have a mini-LED ultrawide, then pretty much Neo Odyssey G9 is your only option at the sub 2000 buck range (down to 1600 bucks according to the report

https://www.notebookcheck.net/Samsung-Odyssey-Neo-G9-gets-28-discount-on-Amazon.676537.0.html#:~:text=Discounted by 28% down to,the less expensive Odyssey G9.)

10 bit is honestly totally unnecessary though, actually one of our regular here @Stahlmannfind out that you have even more colour banding in native 10 and 12 bits panel compare to 8 bit + FRC (he posted it on rting, of which they confirmed it too)

IMO, if you are going to spend money like that go 4k. I have one of these, its pretty nice: https://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/alienware-38-curved-gaming-monitor-aw3821dw/apd/210-axvg/monitors-monitor-accessories

There is a LG version but the gsync fan is a bit loud for some people, but the Alienware one you def dont hear. Dell has a good return policy with it and you get the premium panel exchange policy and 3yr advanced exchange service which is pretty nice. I got mine for 1259.00, when they released but if you dig for extras using certain credit cards etc...  you can get it way cheaper today probably.

As far as Samsung goes i wont touch them for tv's and monitors. weve had 3 or 4 of them in our house and they always die early, have issues etc... My brother had a nu6900 that died a little over a year of using it and now its sitting in the empty room of crap thats goin to the dump. I agree with e22big above about 10/12 bit its really not necessary and if you want you can put the alienware on 10 or 12 bit but you have to reduce the colors to like 4-4-2 and 12 to 4-2-0 i think, which def makes it look worse for pretty much nothing.

The big ones are just too big. I was also thinking about the 32:9 from Samsung but i have a 32:9 now and it is horrible for games, part of the reason i am switching.

And the 10bit was more about hoping that for 2k, the monitor could at least have 10bit or FRC. 8bit is really not enough for HDR

I actually tried LG 38WN95C and i really liked it (apart of the dead pixels 🙂 ) but the blacks started to bother me so i thought i would go with miniled. But in the end, i might get one of those 38" monitors because i can't find any miniLED ones

Philips and ViewSonic aren't best - they have a 1152 mini-LED light dimming zones. But Chinese men keep the best solution for themselves 😉 :

Titanium (TAIDU) M34HWW-Pro - approx. 1000$ but in China only. I bought it (link) 2 days ago via private brocker (forwarder from China). Now is looking forward for get it in hands!

- 34" 1440p 165Hz

- 10 bit curved 1500R  VA panel (HVA - own patented TCL CSOT panel)

- mini-LED with 2304 light dimming zones!

- HDR2000 !

- 3ms GTG

- sRGB mode

- Type-C with 65W PD and altDP mode!

- Vesa 100x100mm wall mount

- 3 years warranty from manufacturer in China!

Reviews: 1, 2, 3

Video reviews with chinese subs: 1, 2, 3, 4

It is what you will buy from MSI, Philips and ViewSonic in 2024. If they offer such models at all 😄

Here is photos from checking of my item (before forwarding from China). It's 2nd item (1st had bad pixels and was changed).

Innocn 34E7R and its derivatives are starting to roll out. Local store has their brand of this monitor coming out by october (no specific dates yet, but you can preorder it). Then there is the Titan Army version M34E7R. I'd expect the innocn version too come out soon enough. Price for me is locally 700€ including 24% VAT. So depending on the performance of the VA panel it could be a pretty good option.

Prices of 34M2C7600MV seem to be coming down too. Now in sub 1000€ in my area. Also, there is a new option Lenovo Legion Y34WZ-30, but no reviews on that. Apparently it uses HVA panel, so the low zone count could be compensated by that somewhat.
