Mid range video editing build.

Shutter Boy

Budget (including currency): ~$1700 CDN before tax.

Country: Canada

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Video Editing

Other details: Just need the tower, no monitor, keyboard etc.

This is for a friend of mine that wants an Intel CPU.

I have been out of the PC build business for a few years and need someone to confirm the following parts will play nice. Or maybe suggest replacements.

This will mostly be used for editing videos.

Not sure on the Mobo. It's got dual 8 pin power connectors, not sure if PSU is compatible or is there an adaptor I can get for the second 8 pin? Or recommend a compatible PSU.

Also would an RTX 3050 be good enough for this to save a hundred bucks?

Thank you!

Only video editing and nothing else?

I'm pretty sure there's no need to use both 8pins on the motherboard if you're not overclocking the CPU..

What I'm not sure of is the CPU cooler.

If it's truly just for video editing, there's really no need buying a fast GPU, unless your frined uses other programs that may use the GPU more..

The mobo dosent need both 8 pin connectors to work, just the 8 pin should be sufficient.

Since Video editing relies more on the cpu then the gpu, something like this might work. The igpu is useful for quick sync, which is a pretty solid video encoder

The i5-13600K offers better performance than the i7-12700K.

Focus G cases have an acrylic window. Acrylic tends to scratch rather easily.

The mATX motherboard will look small in the ATX case.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.

Thank you very much for all the info.

I'll go with the i5-13600K then.

Also might drop down to an RTX 3050

Much appreciated.

In that case the additional power of an RTX 3060 would be better than an RTX 3050.
