MSI z-370 a pro can't run RAM over 2133MHz

Hello everyone,

so i have a had this problem for a while and was wondering if anyone can help with this.

i got this motherboard as a hand me down from work since we upgraded. i put an i7 9700f in it and 2x8GB 3000MHz sticks of ram.

ever since i got it, it works great, except that the motherboard does not run at any frequencies other than 2166MHz.

i have tried with XMP on and off, i have tried switching the ram slots, the ram i am using was in a ryzen system before and was running at even higher speeds than advertised. (also i know the DRAM is from different manufacturers, but it comes from g. skill, and as i said, were running fine together as a kit in another system)

i have tried every frequency between 2166 and 3000mhz and i cannot get it to work, every time it gets a long black screen then tells me the OC has failed. at this point i am out of ideas, does anyone have any?
PS: cpu-z screenshots below:

thank you all in advance
