Do people actually buy "old gaming computers" these days?

I bought this PC two years ago for $800 and I will try and sell it for $550 - $600.

Is this reasonable?

I think the price is too high. You could build a better PC - brand new with warranties - for around $500 CAD. https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/qZYTgb

$800 to build that system seems pretty high, though if you built 2 years ago you may have been right in that covid period where PC prices were inflated with everybody buying computers to work from home.

I would expect more around the $400 mark for that PC. Depending on your local area and what else is available maybe you can get a little more, maybe a little less.

As for whether or not people still buy second hand computers these days, then yes. If the price is right there are people who would buy it though. For that system probably kids/teenagers looking for a cheap PC so they can play minecraft, fortnite, rocket league, and whatever else kids are playing these days.

I agree with Spotty. The market has changed a lot in two years. Aside from the fact you can build a more capable version of this style of entry-level APU-based machine for less new today, the end of the GPU shortage means that people who are willing to buy used stuff can now probably get a system with an actual discrete graphics card around this price point.

You are going to take a big hit on the resale value of anything you bought during the "dark days" from late 2020 through early 2022. That's just the unfortunate reality.

Corps aren't your friends. "Bottleneck calculators" are BS. Only suckers buy based on brand. It's your PC, do what makes you happy.  If your build meets your needs, you don't need anyone else to "rate" it for you. And talking about being part of a "master race" is cringe. Watch this space for further truths people need to hear.
