Best monitor for full usage of my system.

Go to solution Solved by Stahlmann,

I'd suggest the Neo G7. It's an amazing HDR display and 4K has gotten pretty easy to run for current high-end cards like your 7900 XTX. And at 32" the difference between 1440p and 4K is huge. The G8 4K 240Hz monitor shows scanline problems at 240Hz, plus you probably won't run games at 240 fps either way. So i wouldn't buy that one.

Since you're also using the monitor for work I suggest you stay away form OLED for burn-in reasons.

Hey guys I am really torn on monitors.

This is the spec of my build. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/fVFgcb

I have looked into the G9, 32" Odyssey G85NB UHD 240Hz, Odyssey Neo G7 4K.

I am looking for a full HDR and good color accuracy and a high refresh rate of 240hz. This monitor will be my everyday driver and video/photo editing station. I was leaning towards 4k but with the current performance of pcs I don't know if 4k would even be beneficial. I am currently on a MSI GL62M 7RD and anything other than this would be an upgrade.

For those who have played/worked on 2k and 4k. Is the difference that significant? Budget is not an issue I just want the best workstation and gaming setup. I have also never use a curved monitor.

Any opinions will greatly appreciated.

I currently run a similar system to yours, only one generation older. Check out my spec list, I'm very pleased with my Gigabyte monitor. It provides a great balance between resolution, high refresh rate and decent colors thanks to the IPS display. Plus it is not thaaat expensive compared to other diplays.

Imo the difference between FHD and 1440p is huge, especially at bigger display sizes. Although i don't think that the step up to full 4k would be necessary. Especially when gaming 1440p is plenty crisp while still being easy enough to run in order to get max fps with high settings.

If you consider work and having multiple windows open at the same time, 1440p over 1080p is a game changer. I reckon this is even more true for 4k although everything gets so small at  that point, that you have to increase the zoom factor in windows. In that case you could have just stayed with 1440p anyway.

what do you think about the 144Hz? does your gpu go past the 144 while gaming?

If someone did not use reason to reach their conclusion in the first place, you cannot use reason to convince them otherwise.

I have it locked on 144Hz with 3rd party software. I'm not that much of a pro gamer to really notice a benefit if my screen can't display more anyway.

Depending on the game i could get more fps though. BF5 on ultra (no motion blur or similar trash settings) i get solid 144fps with around 80% GPU load. All that with only 250W power limit. With the full 300W I'd get even more...

If budget really is no concern though feel free to go with a more cutting edge display. Not really worth the extra $$$ imo.

I was not aware of this.

This is something I was wondering about but from what I've seen it hasn't been that prevalent
