I have a D15 Chromax a new one, bought with my 7950x, have a Kraken 280mm, but was fed up with water.

The noctua D15 has the top like fin "loose" Noctua won´t do anything about it, so i am talking to the supplier, but i don´t really think it is the issue, it is just the "top" fin..

in a cinebench it goes to 95 degrees instantly, so i was nervous that the cooler "might" be defective. however at 105 Watt PBO, it keeps it stable at 62 on CPU (i think the package is around 70ish) it is with a 10 minute Cinebench r23 multicore run.. it does drop 10ish % going from "max boost" to 105watt PBO like 35xxx to 32xxx but i think i am okay with it, still boosts 5500-5700 while gaming.

D15 isn’t that good of a cooler, long overhyped.. but since you already have it I wouldn’t worry too much.

The Ryzen 7000 series boosts until it hits 95C by design, so that itself is not a worry. They changed the boost behavior from earlier gens.

You have to see if you hits the expected clockspeeds if the cooler performs as it should

The 7000 series is designed to bosst all the way until it hits a temperature wall. It's expected behavior. It'll probably also hit 95°C when under a custom loop water cooler.

If someone did not use reason to reach their conclusion in the first place, you cannot use reason to convince them otherwise.

It's still among the best air coolers. Just not that competitive on price anymore that's all.

I know that aio would be better, but have bad experience with aio… have a 280mm kraken and just got the bracket.. but i am okay with the temps.. just nice after having 2 mates one with a h170i the other with another brand having water in the socket and dead systems..

And no gaming diffence in pbo105watt yes i loose a bit in rendering, but still faster than my 8700k by a large margin..

You probably won't even lose much if you set it to 65W. Gaming is still mostly single threaded and 65W or 105W is more than enough to have 1 core boost to max. But if you just use it for gaming you wasted your money either way. There are faster and cheaper gamging CPUs.
