14GB Laptop 3060

Ralphcat

So i don't know what's happened here but apparently in my Legion 5 (Ryzen 7 5800H 3060) has 14GB of GPU memory. I dont know of a 3060 that has 14 GB of memory so the question is DOES this exist and im just being dumb OR is this a visual bug? If I'm being dumb please let me know.

The gpu can use up to half the system memory memory in addition to its own vram, so 8gb+6gb= 14gb. But the shared ram is slow, so you really only have 6gb of usable vram.

The card only has 6GB of VRAM, it just can access 8GB of system memory if it runs out of dedicated VRAM and has access to that amount, and Windows reports that total amount of memory the card can access for whatever reason.

A screenshot from a 6900 XT for reference (a card I know for a fact only has 16GB of VRAM):

Also, don't use task manager for reporting GPU usage and temps, it's known to be wildly inaccurate a lot. Use something a bit more reputable like HWiNFO64, GPU-Z, MSI Afterburner, etc.

Only look at dedicated.  This is what I'm showing.  The bandwidth is 1.1TB/s vs 50GB/s.  It is pretty much useless for graphics.
