Opinions on these CPU Coolers?

Vibora

Hey, Im planning a new build surrounding the 12900, so I wanted to hear your opinions on these coolers for it? My current thoughts are Noctua NH-12UA, Deepcool AS500 Plus or the Thermalright Assassin 120.

AIO was an option but since the CPU is locked I dont see a real reason to buy AIO for it?

go with 12700k, it's only missing 2 e-cores

it's easier to cool, i would go with u12a (cooler height shorter than as500)

and if yer not gonna be using z690, just go with a non-K intel cpu

Thats exactly why im going with 12900 since I dont want to overclock. I also seen the NH-D15, is it good?

I'd go for Deepcool AK620 at least. 12900 is HOT

Good idea also.

If the 12900 is hot I can go for an AIO if that matters?

A good AIO with 360(+)mm radiator is better for sure.

Any suggestions? Preferrably a Corsair one since most of my RGB components are corsair but anything that is better is always ok

If you don't care about RGB, then I think the biggest Arctic Freezer II that fits in your case. Though Corsair also has great AIO-s, but I'm 'not too familiar with em.

If Air Cooling?

AK 620 as mentioned.   Currently the best air cooled around.

Watercooling?  Well, AIOs can def be better, but you need to go to 280mm or 360mm to guarantee they outperform the AK-620.  (It's as good, or better, than a number of 240mm AIOs.)

I would say Thermalright FC140 is 🙂

AMD R7 5800X3D | Thermalright Aqua Elite 360, 3x TL-B12, 2x TL-K12
Asus Crosshair VIII Dark Hero | 32GB G.Skill Trident Z @ 3733C14
Zotac 4070 Ti Trinity OC @ 3045/1495 | WD SN850, SN850X
Seasonic Vertex GX-1000 | Fractal Torrent Compact, 2x TL-B14

I don't see any reviews with them going head to head, but based on the D15 comparisons?  The AK-620 runs cooler.

I Hope GN gets ahold of one to review.

Insanely dumb. The 12900/12900k is going to get spanked by the 13700k at a lower price. Wait until the 20th and get a 13700k and the U12A will cool it just fine.

Bad advice. 13600k comes out on the 20th and beats it

So? You don't need to OC it. It's just a better value for the money. Even the 13600k will be better than the 12900 at gaming. It has way more cache/higher clockspeed

Oh ok, good to know. Are specs confirmed or rumors? Also, if I do go for the 13900k, is it better with a Z motherboard or it doesnt matter since im not OCing?

The AK620 seems to trade blows with the NH-D15 on some reviews but is usually worse and comparable to the NH-D15S.

It seems similar to the AK620 but there are few reviews available. There are more on Bilibili but I don't remember where to find them.

Any of the mentioned coolers mentioned so far should be fine for cooling the 12900. Raising power limits can allow for more performance but that case be raised accordingly to thermal headroom.

There was an early review on Bilibili that seems be taken down. I'd recommend waiting for more reviews anyway.
