G-Sync Ultimate vs FreeSync Premium

Go to solution Solved by Stahlmann,

You want a clear answer?

G-Sync overall is pointless nowadays and might aswell be dead.

"Ultimate" ist a pointless and basically meaningless certification. Just like FreeSync Premium. So it's best to see them as an added bonus, rather than something you base your buying decision on.

Why?

- Basic FreeSync nowadays offers everything that G-Sync, Ultimate and FreeSync Premium do.

- Using a physical G-Sync module comes with downsides, like the need for an active cooling fan, limited connectivity (still no HDMI 2.1 support) and obviously higher cost.

- 99% of all FreeSync monitors will work flawlessly with Nvidia's G-Sync VRR technology.

What's the difference? I'd like to believe that G-Sync would be better due to having an actual physical module in the monitors

But every time I look up this kind of question, the blogs come down to "It depends" or something similar...

What's the clear answer to this question?

If someone did not use reason to reach their conclusion in the first place, you cannot use reason to convince them otherwise.
