I am attempting to migrate windows from from an older SSHD to a new NVMe SSD, but there are some issues...

Trenten P

I'm using MiniTool Partition Wizard V. 11.5 (version 10 wouldn't work) and while trying to move windows using the "migrate OS" feature, it brings up a window stating "Because the bootable volume and system volume are not on the same disk. migrate OS to SSD/HD Wizard cannot be launched. Sorry." is there anyway to fix this? I'm fine with wiping if I have to, but if there's a way to fix it that would be nice. Also I'm moving from a 2tb seagate firecuda SSHD (hybrid) to a 500gb samsung 960 evo NVMe drive, if that helps.

How much space is used on the SSHD? If it's below the formatted capacity of the SSD, it should work. Macrium is what I use, or SuperDuper! on Macs, both of those tools handle different source/destination capacities fine.

  • 6 months later...

Hi, did you resolve this, I am having the same issue and, if possible, prefer not to wipe and start from scratch if possible.

  • Boot drive is X.
  • Windows drive is C.
  • New drive to migrate to is D.

Looks like partition wizard cant do it, is there another tool by chance?  Thanks.
