Dual vs single loop query

Hi All,

Apologies if i am beating a dead horse here but I am getting so many mixed responses./

I currently have a 10900k and RTX3080 in my build.

Loop Order is as:

Corsair pump - GPU - 360 rad (Top Exhaust) - 360 rad (Top Exhaust)

Corsair pump - CPU - 480 rad (Front Intake) - 480 rad (Front Intake)

Would it be beneficial for temps to do the following?

Corsair pump - GPU - 360 rad (Top Exhaust) - 360 rad (Top Exhaust) - Corsair pump - CPU - 480 rad (Front Intake) - 480 rad (Front Intake)

Current temps are: CPU 39c idle GPU 40c idle with room temp of 27.2c . Fan RPM 600 pump RPM 1499.

In game CPU goes to 60-65 GPU 60 with fans at 1818rpm and pumps at 2429 rpm

Thanks all.

If memory serves, any config is fine. I have a single rad so I run pump -> GPU -> CPU -> Rad -> back to pump. Water runs through the loop quick enough that it isn't going to sit and get hot in any one place (I am using a D5 pump going full speed tbf).

only time loop order could mater if you have alot of rads inbetween the cpu/gpu. but then flow rate would be low so you then would need more pumps...

it be cheaper to just do 2 loops...

This is an old vid now (4 years) but is still relevant

With all the Trolls, Try Hards, Noobs and Weirdos around here you'd think i'd find SOMEWHERE to fit in!

sorry , I think I explained badly . my query is it worth going to single loop with 2 pumps?

only if you're obsess with getting 1gpm flowrate at minimum . . .

tbh having 2 d5 in serial config is more for redundancy,

also u can run dual pump at lower speed to achieve same flow rate as single pump running at high speed

I think you have 2 seperate queries going on here.

1) Is it worth having 2 loops (one for GPU and CPU) vs having them all looped into 1 larger loop

The only real advantage of having 2 loops in that you can drain/maintain/swap components of one without draining the other half of the loop. So if you see yourself frequently changing a component out and don't want to drain the entire loop, that would be the only real reason for having 2 loops. By having the loops seperate, you aren't using the cooling potential of your radiators to the max, as it is rare that both the CPU and GPU are being hammered to the max at the same time, and thus if you are doing unbalanced loads, you can utilize the radiator space to either the CPU/GPU.

2) Is it worth having 2 pumps?

Purely for redundancy purposes only maybe, 1x D5 is plenty performance for your outlined loops (radiators provide little resistance, and so your system is more or less just a 2 block system).  So having a 2nd D5 in a single loop only provides you with the safety net if one were to fail (assuming you plumb it in series). Obviously, if you have a separate loop, you need a 2nd pump.

Can be for noise reasons. Two 50% D5's sound better than one at 100%. But if one loop with 2 pumps are you looking to do serial or parallel?
