Best bang for the buck m.2 ssd?

DND

Good day, I would just like to as for some recommendations for a good 1TB/2TB SSD for around 80-150$. I also would like to ask if the Crucial P2 M.2 SSD is good? I would just mainly use it to store games.

I have the Team Group MP33 1TB, pretty nice, based on a lot of reviews, it is a lot better than the crucial P2.

If your wanting 80 to 150 price range but stil 1 TB+ that limits you to Gen 3.  Still plenty for gaming not at all a problem.

I would go with 970 Evo Plus.  I have 2 of them in my rig.  You can get 1 TB model for 100 CAD regularly, sometimes on sale for 80 or 90.  They have a faster read and write speeds than the WD drive and higher reliability than just about anything this side of an enterprise drive.  LTT raves about Samsungs NAND drives regularly, and since 970 series is Gen 3 and the newest is the 980 on Gen 4 they are much cheaper than when I got mine.  Dont need a heatsink either if its just a game drive, controller stays relatively cool even packed in tight between GPU and CPU on my board.

Just make sure you get Evo Plus, not Evo.  They are substantially slower than the plus on writes and have less DRAM cache.  Evo Plus was developed for extremely high burst loads like in gaming level loads or transitions between scenes, not for extended high speed writes like the Pro series so you save some money with the smaller cache and slightly lower total TBW rating.  Dont worry about it though, ive had 1 for 1.5 years and the second for just under a year and ive still got 97% life remaining on both.  I even had them in a RAID 0 setup for a bit until I realized it was pretty much pointless on my platform so now one is a boot drive and the other is a game drive.  I put newer more complex games on the SSD and older games i have on a 4x2TB HDD RAID 0 array.

I don't mind getting limited to Gen 3. Since my rig is really old, and I think I won't be upgrading anytime soon. I'll check how much the 970 evo plus are in my country.
