EVGA P+ 1600W $199

Mister Woof

This seems like a great deal.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09M9639VW/ref=as_sl_pc_tf_til?tag=&linkCode=w00&linkId=&creativeASIN=B09M9639VW

I am trying to figure out what's wrong with it... Any input? I couldn't find it on the tier list.

Thanks

Most EVGA PSUs I've tried that are this cheap for the wattage/rating have HORRIBLE fans, very loud. Not even a peaceful wooshing, it's almost ike rattling. Avoid at all costs if you care about noise.

They have been clearing inventory for a while now, These are not the cheap shit PSUs that will have that issue for the most part. The next gen PSUs that have better support for 4000 series gpu connectors and such are coming out soon, so they are probably just clearing it all before they start selling the new stuff.

Thanks for the input.

I'm on a 2017 Seasonic Focus Plus Gold 850w...it has handled my 3080/10900k without issue (despite reports of transient spikes tripping protections) and it's pretty quiet.

I was looking forward to 4k series cards and perhaps 13th Gen Zen4 4, to make sure the new system haa enough juice.

That plus my current PSU is over 5 years old now. I'm not a fan of loud systems though so I think I'll hold off.

Your current PSU should be fine if it's still covered by the warranty, usually a PSU's lifespan is however long the warranty lasts, so just use that as a rule of thumb.

It's a 10 year warranty, so I suppose 8ll hold off. But the thing is, if I upgrade, then existing stuff will probably stay with the 850.

But I guess I don't need to actually upgrade in a few months lol

True, on the actual supplying power to the system part they work good, I've had some 600W bronze rated one in a build that is many years old, around 7 years, and it's still going strong. And the ones with poor fans I tested obviously didn't seem like they were going to blow up lul.

Guess I'll wait for ATX12VO and ATX 3.0 PSUs

I couldn't find any reviews for the P+, but it's likely similar to the G+. Meaning likely an entry level PSU (think Corsair CXM, Be Quiet Pure Power 10/11, EVGA GQ/G5 etc) that's going to produce coil whine with higher end GPUs. So get it if you don't care about noise or your PC components, but do care about efficiency and minimising the amount of money you spend on the PSU. Basically if you're mining.

:)
