Which of the these three RTX 3090 Ti are best?

g335

Hello,

I will buy a RTX 3090 Ti'. Which of these are best or better to buy?

EVGA GeForce RTX 3090 Ti FTW3 GAMING

https://www.newegg.com/evga-geforce-rtx-3090-ti-24g-p5-4983-kr/p/N82E16814487561

ASUS ROG Strix LC NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Ti OC Edition

https://www.newegg.com/asus-geforce-rtx-3090-ti-rog-strix-lc-rtx3090ti-o24g-gaming/p/N82E16814126554

GIGABYTE AORUS GeForce RTX 3090 Ti XTREME WATERFORCE

https://www.newegg.com/gigabyte-geforce-rtx-3090-ti-gv-n309taorusx-w-24gd/p/N82E16814932510

I am buying the 3090Ti mainly to use in Blender and other 3D apps.  I will game with it too.    Is it better to buy a 3090?   I am not waiting for the next generation because dont know when its coming out and I have a new unopened 850watt psu, so dont want to waste it and buy a new one.

I am not a fan of factory AIO cooled cards, FTW3 is the only one that is not factory AIO cooled so that gets my vote. PSU quality matters as much as its wattage, 850w alone doesnt mean you can run these just fine.

i have a new unopened  EVGA G+ Gold rated psu. Ive had it   and dont want to waste it. What is not good about factor AIO cooled cards?

Any of the 3090 Ti’s would be fine, I would select the one you like the most. A 850W PSU isn’t a good pair with a 3090 Ti, I believe a 1000W (at minimum) would be a safer choice. Also, the 4000 series are right around the corner, I would wait for the 4000 series since we’re so close to them releasing.

Would a 3090 be better to buy if I am going to use the 850watt psu?

The strix card is probably the best one, they usually make pretty high quality stuff, im not sure about their rma/customer support though.

gigabyte as a brand isnt too good, bad rma and stuff

the high end evga ftw3 cards have some issues of vrms dying, but i think they fixed these issues by now so i wouldnt worry about that too much. Luckily evga has good customer support.

850 watts should technically be enough, it just depends if its high enough quality to deal with the transient spikes.

1000 watts would be a safer option.

If you get a 3090 ti and it doesnt work you can just reduce power limit or undervolt it and keep most of the performance.

It should technically be enough though if it can deal with the transient spikes

3090s are in a weird spot where while yes, they have 24GB of VRAM, if you actually use all of it odds are you'll run into memory overheating. The 3090 Tis in general are just better designed and should be much more reliable.

That said, even a good 850W PSU might not be enough to power a 3090 Ti. My 6900 XT (disabled power limits) will pull 450-500W, about the same as the 3090 Ti. I've seen that system with a 5900X under full load pull 1000W from the wall. While theoretically yes, 850W might be OK, if you're gonna be buying a 3090 Ti you can afford to get a 1000W PSU.

I have the EVGA FTW3 Ultra version. They are $1,200 on the EVGA web site right now.

Doing what we are doing now or YouTube they use 25 watts. The same as a XC3 Ultra 3080 ti.

They are 10c cooler on the core and 20c on the vram under load than the 3080 ti version.

At 4k they produce 10 more frames over the 3080 ti version with my R9 and i9.

I have 3090s and the 3090 tis are cooler and faster but not fast enough to be an upgrade.

I am also not a fan of AIO cards.

Out of the 6 360mm AIOs I have bought in the past 3 years 2 have failed.

I don't mind spending $130 to replace an AIO but I would not like to RMA a $1,000+ GPU over one.

I have one 3090 ti on a 1000 watt PSU and it is doing fine.

Ok, so the EVGA card is the better one? I would need to upgrade to a 1000 watt psu?

I would not call it the better card but the only one I would buy.

I have 2.

I have only used the 3090 tis on 1000 and a 1300 watt PSU so I do not know how it will do on 850 watt PSU.

a 3080 would definetly work, a 3090 ti is not guaranteed to work.

Most likely.

I had a Strix 3080 and it was 10 frames down the FTW3 Ultra 3080 ti and 20 frames down on the 3090 ti.

For GPU rendering it has half the vram so not in the same league.

with current pricing a 3080 12gb for 730 or a 3080ti for 850usd vs the 3090ti for 1150 is ur choice, don't have to upgrade psu for the first 2, and if you do get a 3090ti, don't just assume any 1000w psu will work.
