Avarage PC not running battlefield 4 well.

Chrisd0743

My System specs are as follows

Operating System: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit

CPU Cooler: Corsair h100i

Power Supply: Corsair TX850M

Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws X Series (16gig) DDR3 1866 Mhz

Motherboard: Sabertooth 990FX 2.0

Processor: AMD FX-9590 Eight-Core Processor

Memory: 16384MB RAM

Video Card : NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780

Sound Card: Soundblaster Z

Hard Drive: Samsung EVO 850 (500gig)

Now with this setup I was told my computer should be running battlefield 4 at 60 FPS no problem but when in a game it does drop to mid 40's. Any info or help would be great because I am lost for words right now as to what to do?!.

Yep i did spell Average wrong and I can not change it opps!.

Wow... that computer should indefinitely run BF4 max 60fps+ At 1080p................... A 9590 overkill, 16gb of ram, which BF4 loves, and a 780... >.<

are you running 1080P? a higher resolution would be a framerate killer even to a 780

are you overclocking? you may boost your performance if your GPU and already speedy CPU get a little OCing done

are you running the newest drivers? This may make the game a little more tollerable.

lastly, are you opposed to using windows 8/8.1? it's been shown that 8 gives better framerates in some games, but worse in others. I understand from a price point of view and from a "I'm all set up, why would i make things harder" point of view, but going from Windows 7 to Windows 8.1 made ArmA 1 playable on my machine, so it may do the same for your BF4

There can be some ridiculous dips in that game. So what is your max framerate?

Appears like you have vsync on.If not, something is not right.

in that case, my reaction is the same as everyone else....HOW THE BALLS ARE YOU NOT GETTING 60+?????

also, in my experience, windows 8.1 is not as terrible as everyone makes it out to be. Once everything is customized, it's actually not bad, and is a complete improvement over the 32 bit XP i was running not even 3 months ago. and i've even taken a decrease in hardware just to use it. I still prefer XP as an OS, but windows 8.1 is pretty good. I can't wait for the start menu redesign update

i thinks the frame drops r bcoz of it being single threaded...at some places u do need hyperthreading in that game...also have u turned on v sync.???

Check what your resolution scaling is set to, that could be it.

OOT: You might wanna shorten your Sig, some mods may notice

On Topic: make sure you dont have vsync on, resolutions to the right choice, and fiddle around with the settings a lil'. this is one of the good suggestions.

Is in the games settings, i am not playing ATM but ill try to explain.

Somewhere near the actual resolution settings there is a slider that allows you to set the resolution scaling hiher than the output resolution, look for that and set it to 100% or less.

Setting the resolution scaling less than default (100%) wont make the game look as nice. With your rig you shouldn't have to adjust it...not down anyway.

Ok i did that it seemed to help a bit i am getting a steady 60-70 FPS now when i set that to 90%. I really though the computer i built would have been able to push 120 fps as i got a 120hz monitor
