Colours are completely off when i turn on HDR either through windows or via a game's graphics settings.

I started up battlefield V today and as a game was beginning i clicked alt-tab to do something else quickly then when i restarted the game, the image looked like this (pictured). After some experimenting i found out it was only doing this when i had HDR enabled in the graphics settings, turning it off corrects it, I have an HDR compatible display and a rtx3080.  I've reinstalled the game, my gpu drivers as well as reset my monitor and nothing has fixed it. Has anyone else experienced this/is my gpu or monitor broken dead?.

 

Any advice would be appreciated

Starting with the model display you have would be helpful.

Oh yeh forgot to say apologies, I have a  Dell 27 Gaming Monitor: S2721DGFA
