Intel 12 gen (i3 or i5) vs ryzen 5 3600

I am planning to build a budget gaming and video editing machine with a rtx 2060 graphics card.
Is ryzen 5 3600 is a good option or should i go with i3 or i5 12 gen intel?

Unless the 3600 is much cheaper I would get the 12400F. The i3 performs similar to the 3600 in gaming but has 4 cores making it worse for video editing, so I wouldn't get that.

if you have a little more budget consider the 12400f

barring an absolute steal on the ryzen?  The 12100 or 12400 are 110% Better.

i3 12100 is definitely better for pure gaming

i5 12400f will get you some more cores for background tasks or streaming or whatever else you wanna do, its just a better version of the 12100

both are better than the 3600 but also exist on the new lga1700 platform so be careful with your motherboard and ram selection. LTT just uploaded a new video specifically about this, id recommend watching it,

Considering the Ryzen 5 5600 has gone down in price, I'm not sure why you're comparing a 3600 instead of a 5600 as the 5600 & 3600 are the same price these days.

 

That being said, currently the Intel 12th gen does have an advantage and the Intel Core i5 12400F competes with the Ryzen 5 5600 with the 12400F having a slight edge over the Ryzen 5.
