Headphones for sports

Grey Eminence

Hey guys,

I need to buy new headphones, only over ears, for music and calls. The ones I have now are being trash for call and the padding around the ears started to peel off after a year - maybe from the sports and sweat.

I do not mind if they are not foldable, that is the least thing I care about. I want them to be BT and wired as well (can plug 3,5mm jack), to have Active Noise Cancelling, last 25+HRS, be good for sports (running - jogging/sprinting, gym/exercise, skating) and be fine with my sweat, as I sweat as $hit. I hope I did not forget anything, and budget is maximum 60-80£ (94cad-125cad). Thank you.

PS: IF you have more suggestions, or what over ear headphones should have or if any different, I am open to that. Thank you. (iDeaV206 were my last ones, just to give you idea abt its specs)

The quality you'll receive from such a low-priced product will never be great if such features are being pushed paramount. Bluetooth alone takes all of the good offerings, and throws them out of the window. The ANC on those kinds of headphones is also so poor, you might as well not even have it. A lot of them struggle to even maintain a proper seal, which is another drawback of what would almost certainly be no-name brand headphones. Or at least, brands that none of us have ever heard of or would ever recommend (aside from a few name-brands with products we dare not mention).

My recommendation would be to cut Bluetooth out of the equitation, and opt for a decent set of In-Ear Monitors. Obviously, you'll want something that'll create a strong enough seal to block out any external noise. Not only that, but when exercising, something that won't easily fall out of your ears. That pricerange perfectly fits in a set of Etymotic ER2XR/SE's, which use triple-flange tips. This is what I'd recommend for such a use case, because they'll easily more than cover your needs. IEMs are both the kings of portability, and the kings of sound quality on a budget.

Great, thanks. Last time, which are my current ones, headphones are some no name ones, bc they have been cheap, but surprised me with sound and ANC.

If you could suggest any from over ear and in ear cable ones no matter the price, what would it be? I mean, ofc not like 500GBP+ but I want to see. Thanks. (Maybe I save for couple months lol)

⤵️ I wouldn't suggest over-ears at this pricepoint.

What do you mean? I did not mention any price point, I wanted to know if budget is not an issue, what WOULD you recommend.

For you particular use case, I'd recommend the same practically regardless of price. It was just also a seemingly perfect fit to the originally listed budget from the first post. Noise canceling in over-ears doesn't really start to get good until the $250+ range, and even then there aren't any offerings I'd consider worth the price. Not great in terms of sound quality, not even competitive with sub-$100 offerings. I'm not sure why manufacturers have to remove quality with every feature they add. Strange way to balance their products, but that's how they do it. The best you can get is whatever's simplest, because then you can at least be certain it hasn't been compromised to a degree.
