Horizontal lines on screen

Hi everyone,

 

I have a Samsung LE55A956 (LE55A956D1MXXQ) from 2008 and it held up just fine until a couple of months ago. There are horizontal lines every couple of pixels (regardless of input source), which fade and disappear around the center of the screen (as shown in the picture). I have already tried upgrading and downgrading the firmware, resetting to factory settings and playing around with all of the image settings, but that did not resolve the issue.

 

The questions I have:

1) Has anyone else seen this behavior, what causes/caused this?

2) Is there a way to resolve this issue?

3) Does this mean the panel is failing? If yes, does anyone know how long it might still live?
