Little holes on the gpu

Hi!

Four months ago I bought a used Gigabyte 6700 XT Eagle (not OC). When I took it apart and cleaned it some paste was still on it. Burned on it? The most bizarre thing was two little holes, dimples on it. Should I be worried?

Can I clean it somehow? Isopropyl alcohol and toothbrush is not enough.

My temps are not so bad:
Idle: GPU: 36°C, junction: 38°C

Gaming, 50%: GPU:50-55°C, junction: 60-72°C

+3Dmark Time spy: GPU: 74°C;  junction: avg: 90-95°C, max: 102

I am human. I'm scared of the dark, and I get toothaches. My name is Frill. Don't pretend not to see me. I was born from the two of you.

that's either a QC error or someone has run it on liquid metal at some point

With all the Trolls, Try Hards, Noobs and Weirdos around here you'd think i'd find SOMEWHERE to fit in!

That really doesn't looks like it should. Almost as if things burned together. Also it looks like there is an imprint of the cooler on it. The last time I saw that was on coolers of CPUs without heatspreader.

Okay, that is obviously flip-chip, so the important parts are on the "bottom" towards the board, but it still doesn't look great. The card still works?

For cleaning one of my favorites are cotton swabs. They can go into small corners and are able to suck up paste.

Another thing are toothpicks. Soft enough to not scratch anything, and small enough to get between small parts, and with a piece of tissue on the end, they also work for wet (alcohol) cleaning.

Uh nope. That is the bare GPU die, There is no heat spreader. That IS the important part.

Thank you guys for your help!

Blue4130, yeah it still works...

lordmogul, yes it works fine. The only thing what bother me is the junction temps. An of course the burned paste..

Cotton swabs are my favourite too, but it was not enough. Toothpicks are very good idea I give it a try.
