Gear 1 or 2?

Rescently purchased G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 32GB (2 x 16GB) 288-Pin PC RAM DDR4 4400 (PC4 35200) Intel XMP 2.0 Desktop Memory Model F4-4400C19D-32GVK.  Running at ring 1 4000mhz.  That is what everyone is telling me to do.  But is there a real world difference just running it at gear 2 in 4400 mhz like its supposed to?  I rarely game.  Most of my use it for money research and just want the fastest rig i can get.

Thoughts, comments?

Thanks

Intel's sweet spot is Gear 1:1 at 4000mhz as tight as you can get the timings at that speed.

Gear 2 will let you gain the memory frequency but lowers the performance because the memory controller then runs half the speed.

So stick with the 4000mhz gear 1 mode. Unless you can achieve higher through BCLK, then you should be able to sustain Gear 1, but with a bit of tweaking.
