3080 ti vs 3090

Akira927

Hi everyone I just wanted some input on what gpu I should get. I was looking into the 3080ti and the 3090 and was wondering which one would perform better. Thanks for the advice in advance!

for what?? obviously the 3090 is better, but if your asking if the 3080 ti will be enough, kinda need to know what it's being used for.

The 3090 has more cuda cores and ram, so it runs faster. But, the performance difference is pretty small, which can't be said about the price tag.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I needATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

The question you need to ask is if you need the extra VRAM. The difference between them in most tasks is negligible, until you start needing more than 12GB of VRAM.

Basically, if you're doing large blender renders or other compute heavy tasks, 3090, and if you're just gaming 3080 ti

For a gaming focused PC, the 3080 TI would be much better value.

I have both and it depends on the version.

For example my EVGA XC3 Ultra is about 6 to 10 frames down on my EVGA FTW3 Ultra 3080 ti at 4k.

I compare at 4k since it is all GPU 90% of the time.

Here is Horizon Zero Dawn bench at 4k ultra.

EVGA XC3 Ultra 3080 ti      = 83fps

EVGA FTW3 Ultra 3080 ti    =89fps

MSI Gaming X Trio 3080 ti   =89fps

MSI Gaming X Trio 3090      =89fps

EVGA FTW3 Ultra 3090 ti    =98fps

So my MSI Gaming X Trio 3090 performs about the same as a high end 3080 ti

A Suprim, Strix or FTW 3 3090 will do better than the Gaming X Trio but not by much.

The whole question ends here, really. If you don't need the VRAM, you don't need a 3090. 98% of the experience exists in the 3080Ti.
