Pretty sure nobody (but AMD themselves) knows about something that can't be bought yet.
Which I doubt AMD tested all kinds of RAM out there.

There's also Motherboard compatibility to think about.

There is approximately 99% chance I edited my post

Ryzen 7000 isn't out yet, so we can only speculate that this would (probably) be compatible. Keep in mind that you'll need to pay import tax when you go back home, so factor this into the price.

I got this PSU:

I bought it sometime ago, do I need a new one?

It probably isn't worth it for a few reasons:

  • We don't really know what memory will work well with Zen 4.
  • For all we know Zen 4 could flop really hard, and Raptor Lake with DDR4 could be better. Without knowing how much it costs and how it performs it doesn't make much sense to try to get the memory for it so early.
  • DDR5 pricing is dropping really fast, some kits that were close to $400 when Alder Lake released, are now going for around $200. And the kit you linked went from $600 on Launch to around $400 currently, by the time Zen 4 gets released, there's a good chance that the pricing of kits like the one you linked are going to drop even further.

On point 2, you could naturally use the DDR5 with RPL/ADL, but it's already known that Alder Lake doesn't benefit much from current fast DDR5 when compared to current fast DDR4, while fast DDR5 is better the difference is small and not worth the 3x pricing when comparing them(DDR5 6400/6000 CL32/30 against DDR4 4000/3600 CL18/16), and you probably shouldn't assume that RPL will be that different.

You could use DDR4 aswell? I could swear I heard that the sockets are not the same, DDR4 wont fit on DDR5 motherboards.

Yes, they need different sockets. But e.g. for Intel's 12th gen the are motherboards for either, because the CPU supports both. Afaik AMD has already said Zen4 will only support DDR5 though.

I wonder if we will get some of those wacky boards that do support ddr4 and 5 like we have gotten in the past for a whole bunch of crossover generations. This time I doubt it since the memory controller is all integrated but you never know what asrock might pull :p.

Yeah, seems unlikely. I imagine this adds a fair bit of complexity to the boards and requires more space that could be used otherwise.

Not sure if there's enough consumer interest in dual-memory-standard boards to offset that, and you'd probably rather sell them a new board anyway.
