What's a non-ARM based processor?

Yep.

Hey all, I've got to download a programme for an exam and it says in the requirements that my CPU must be a "Non-ARM based processor supported by your operating system". I have the Lenovo Legion 5 laptop, and the CPU (per the retail description) is AMD Ryzen 5 5600H Hexa Core Processor.

I read somewhere that AMD CPUs are (partially?) based on ARM technology, but I'm pretty much still a noob for PC parts so a lot of that stuff goes over my head, so thought it better to ask here.

Thanks

No, you should be good. I assume that they are just meaning any x86 based system as opposed to something like a mac m1 or a arm based phone/tablet.

Honestly whoever wrote that needs to be slapped in the face with... a non-ARM based processor. I would've just dropped the supported by your operating system bit, it's just oddly phrased causing people to unnecessarily second guess themselves

  • 1 year later...

same case, I need to download Examplify version 3.3. It also says the badly worded (non-ARM processor, requirement. This is what I saw in the System settings of my laptop: "Processor: Intel(R) Celeron(R) N4020 CPU @ 1.10GHz   1.10 GHz". Do I meet the requirements?

Can someone also tell me how to check the RAM on Windows 11 Home Version 22H2, please. I really don't know much about computers and all the google searches I did are not applicable to my laptop, I cannot find the RAM. I need to have at least 4GB of hard drive available space.

Thank you very much :)

You are good, the intel celeron is x86 based. As for ram, you can open task manager and it will tell you. Also ram is not the same as hard drive space. Do you need 4 gigs of ram or 4 gigs of hard drive space?

Oh, I thought they were the same 😅 it says I need to have:

RAM: 4GB of usable RAM or higher
Hard drive: 4GB or higher of available space

I opened the task manager, where can I see the RAM there? sorry I really don't know much about these things, I pretty much just turn on the laptop and use it. I really appreciate the help 🙂

Open the Performance tab on the top, then click on the memory tab on the left side. It will show you the total ram.
