Anybody With 3D Texture Experience?

Aleks

Just curious if anybody has any experience designing textures for 3D objects. If so let me know!

oh god not the potato thing again :P

Man, does anything that has to do with 3D on this forum have to be related to potatoes!? Lol. I just want someone to answer :(

The last thread that sporadically turned into potato worship was just asking if anybody messed around with 3D design. I don't think I am going to ask about this stuff anymore lol.

I've done some simple texturing, nothing huge.

Why?

Mostly out of curiosity. I have done a lot of modelling in Maya but still haven't grasped the basics of texturing. Something I am really interested in.

I don't know how it is in Maya, but first of all you need to get some textures(cgtextures.com).Then,for a good texture, you need displacement, occlusion, normal and specular mapping. There's something with which you can generate it,a piece of software called Crazy Bump(not free).I have no experience how applying all these maps works in Maya though.

They each have their own section in the sidebar menu which you select your image files for.
