Slow Boot with XMP Profile On

Cameron Robert

I have a weird issue, that I can't wrap my head around. I recently swapped from Asus ROG B550-F Gaming Wifi to a GIGABYTE B550 AORUS ELITE AX V2, otherwise all other specs stayed the same.

Ryzen 5 3600X

32GB (4x 8GB) Corsair Vengeance RAM

3070Ti

About a month after the MB swap I set the XMP to profile 1 and about a week later boot time was taking forever. It used to be about 20 seconds from post to OS, now it take 5~ minutes to get to the post screen, and another 10 minutes to get to the OS.

I've turned off XMP for now and its better, but wth is going on?

What is the memory speed of the kit? It sounds like you're hitting some sort of error correcting because the frequency is just too high for the cpu to handle.

That context would have been helpful 😛

It's 4x 8GB 3200 CL16

  • 1 month later...

Turns out the issue was gigabyte drivers. The drivers listed for the actual motherboard were outdated on the gigabyte website, and following a few reddit threads lead me to the more modern version of my motherboard which had actual AMD drivers. Problem solved!

For anyone else who gets this issue, try using drivers from https://www.gigabyte.com/au/Motherboard/B550-AORUS-ELITE-AX-V2-rev-11/support#dl
