Clean install vs upgrade

Windows 10 home and Windows 10 Pro are the same operating system, Pro just has a couple more features enabled. Unless your current Windows install has issues I see no reason to do a clean install.

I plan on upgrading from windows 10 home to windows 10 pro. Should I upgrade or do a clean install?

An upgrade should be alright in this case if you're just going between editions of Windows. It's typically when upgrading between major releases of Windows (like upgrading from Windows 10 to 11) where you'll see problems where a clean install is often better. In this case, it should be as painless as going between Windows 10 21H1 to 21H2.
