XMP not doing anything

Noel Gavin

Hello, a while back a built a new gaming pc. When I went to go put my ram at it's rated 3200 Mhz, i noticed in Task manager it was only runing at 2133. I have it in a Gigabyte B550 board. Does anyone have any idea what's going on? Thanks in advance!

  1. ALWAYS list your complete system details.
  2. You can take a screenshot of a window by holding ALT then pressing PRTSCR
  3. Windows Task Manager is not exactly a reliable tool to check things like that.

You are welcome. This is the best anyone can do with how little you have in your post, other than giving you 30 possibilities why it doesnt work and turning this place into webmd of tech forums. You can check memory speed more reliably via cpuz (in the open tab of CPUZ I provided you with below in a screenshot)image.thumb.png.00d108aa2096d9b15a4ab098940346c6.png

Under-statement of the year.  I was actually shocked to find task manager correctly identified the speed of my RAM recently, I'd say it more often gets it wrong than right.

Router:  Intel N100 (pfSense) WiFi6: Zyxel NWA210AX (1.7Gbit peak at 160Mhz)
WiFi5: Ubiquiti NanoHD OpenWRT (~500Mbit at 80Mhz) Switches: Netgear MS510TXUP, MS510TXPP, GS110EMX
ISPs: Zen Full Fibre 900 (~930Mbit down, 115Mbit up) + Three 5G (~800Mbit down, 115Mbit up)
Upgrading Laptop/Desktop CNVIo WiFi 5 cards to PCIe WiFi6e/7

I'll second the BIOS setting. 2133 is a pretty standard speed until XMP / DOCP is turned on. Possibly didn't save the change when you exited the BIOS
