They're overall very similar and both are pretty good. I'd get whatever option is cheaper. The biggest difference is probably that the BenQ has speakers and LG doesn't.

If someone did not use reason to reach their conclusion in the first place, you cannot use reason to convince them otherwise.

From the comparison https://www.displaydb.com/compare/lg-34gn850/benq-ex3415r

Pros of LG 34GN850

  • 1800 Display Curvature - it is slightly curve than BenQ which is 1900 and I do own this monitor and I love it curve nature for 21:9 aspect ratio screen.
  • 10-bit panel (not a real 10-bit but 8-bit + FRC) - still it can display 1.07 Billions Color and this is suppose colors of HDR content.
  • Support overclock to 160hz but then you need to compromise the color output to 16.7 Millions Color instead of 1.07 Billions color.

Cons of LG 34GN850

  • Not support PIP or PBP.
  • No speaker (if you need it and don't want separate speaker)

Pros of BenQ EX3415

  • Bundle with speaker and I check the review, it actually quite good since it came with Built-in Subwoofer.
  • Support PIP and PBP, this is useful sometimes when you need to connect another source and both appear in same monitor.
  • Came with remote control for access the monitor setting. This is very cool and I want it, too bad seems mostly only BenQ do this.

Cons of BenQ EX3415

  • 8-bit panel, support up to 16.7 Millions color and this is not even up to basic requirement of HDR content.
  • Not Nvidia G-Sync compatible, FreeSync only might still work for Nvidia but you need to manually turn on and also they is no guarantee it work as it suppose. If your GPU is AMD, then you can ignore this.

Cons of both LG 34GN850 and BenQ EX3415

  • Both is very basic of around 400 nits only and this is not good enough for HDR content. For HDR gaming or HDR video, it is recommended get at least HDR 600 and above.

This is mainly the Info I was seeing aswell. My main use is gonna be gaming, includes stuff like The Witcher 3, Skyrim and other single player titles aswell as Valorant, Apex and R6. And if im honest idk how much HDR content I even run into lol. My other use is for some basic photo editing and such aswell so having the color accuracy is a plus. My main thing now I think is it worth 100 buck(atleast on BnH) to go LG over the BenQ. The speakers are very nice as I currently don't have any external speaker and having the option to not always wear my headset would be nice. And I agree the remote is super convenient

Currently the BenQ is 799.99 and the LG is 899.99 on BnH atleast. Hopefully I can get some more first hand experience from other that'll help me a little more. Thanks for the input

I did not own the BenQ, so I cannot tell you how is it. I think none of the games you play support HDR. You may ignore HDR support in this case unless you plan to use the monitor for HDR movies and they is plenty now especially nearly all streaming services is provide more 4K HDR content than 4K SDR as HDR is the part where 4K movie shine, without it, it just like normal 1080p content.

For LG UltraGear 34GN850-B, it is one of the best monitor I own and it still with me for productivity usage now at office as I just replace it 2 weeks ago with even wider 32:9 aspect ratio monitor. 😅

8bit panels are alot cheaper than 10bit to make, it affects gray scale and color gradient, it's hard to notice unless it's side by side, or if i switch back and forth from 8 to 10, but it's enough that i no longer buy 8bit monitors.

the 34gp83a is slightly better than the 34gn850 in almost everything (response time, peak refresh rate, color gamut), they both suffer from low contrast which is worse in dark rooms, it's the top known negative for almost all LG nano panels.

you'd also have a better chance at getting one that actual does 160hz without ghosting with the gp83a
