OfferUp thread presented without commentary.

I haven't used OfferUp in too long to remember which chat bubble color is you, but neither side in this exchange looks good.

Corps aren't your friends. "Bottleneck calculators" are BS. Only suckers buy based on brand. It's your PC, do what makes you happy.  If your build meets your needs, you don't need anyone else to "rate" it for you. And talking about being part of a "master race" is cringe. Watch this space for further truths people need to hear.

I dunno, I think OP was fine in that exchange. I would have not engaged like you did though, I would have simply said "sorry im not interested in a gpu right now" and leave it at that. No point in engaging with someone trying to screw people over. Anyone selling a rx580 for $500 because "it competes with the current gen offerings" are simply trying to fuck over someone.

I was unsure if he was being dishonest or just wrongly evaluating his card and being stubborn about it. I thought maybe I could get through to him. But you are probably right. I should have given up sooner

He seems pretty typically clueless, we get them here too. I too didn't really see the point in trying to engage with him after finding that out but w/e.

In his defense, if someone doesn't know how to sort by sold listings, I can see how they would come to the $500 conclusion. However, not an excuse for someone that's been "selling for years".

Clearly out for a quick cash grab from people that don't know better.

I'm not actually trying to be as grumpy as it seems.

Prices were higher in early April. You can get an rx 6600 today for $330 shipped.

Doesn't necessarily change the market value on the 580.

The rx580 8gb does 32.74 MH/s while the 6600 does 28.24. It makes sense that the 580 is going to be higher than $100. eBay market prices =/= "gaming" prices always.

To a miner, the 580 8gb is worth more than the 6600, so recent sales on the 580 8gb are going to be higher than it'd be "worth" for you to pay.

Is it really? Damn. Hard to believe it's still a mining beast after all these years.

It uses more power than the 6600, so it ends up making slightly less per day, but it's still a really good option.

At 8gb VRAM of course it's still good at mining.

I honestly think neither of the prices you or the other person said were "wrong." They were just prices with different use cases in mind.

Well recently sold 580 8gbs are around $200. So $500 is definitely wrong even if it was in a sealed box. Which it isn't.
