So I was taking my laptop apart for the millionth time, because I was adding a replacement keyboard I bought, but I am also getting a new heatsink that hasn't come yet, so instead of putting it back together and having to take it apart again, I decided to do something else...

Motherboard heatsink side up

Keyboard ontop of motherboard which is ontop of a laptop cooler.  Random panels from the laptop that have soldered in cables for turning the power on. The shell with the battery and charger input and cabel.

Why a new heatsink? Only reason I can think of is a motherboard upgrade which is what I did with my laptop. (Upgraded to a motherboard with Nvidia graphics.)

Also, I would just sort of throw it together somewhat. (Like put the stuff into the case but only a few screws just to hold it together.)

the one I have is like 5 years old and is kinda loud, so I bought a new $20 heatsink. I really only use this laptop for really non intensive games and web browsing.

So fix it.

Put oil in the fan if you can, re-apply thermal paste, undervolt CPU, etc. (Things I've done to mine. If it's an Intel CPU try using Throttlestop.)

I did re apply thermal paste, I just would rather pay $20 for the heatsink than go through the trouble of bios undervolting and messing with the fan :P no need to hate :)

They were both dead before :). And now the components are sitting in one of my drawers.
