How to stop brave from opening download popup

Hey there,
I was wondering if you could help me with this problem:
Every single time I download a file (even just a wallpaper) my brave browser opens up this huge Downloads-Popup and it just stays there.

So whenever I try to download multiple pictures from different tabs, this thing either stays there and takes up screen space or I have to click it away. That's a huge pain in the "rear i/o" for me.
Is there any way to stop that from happening?
In Firefox it just opens a tiny bubble which vanishes a few seconds after the download finishes.

Brave is Chromium based, so normally I'd say toggle the appropriate chrome://flags option, however, it appears Google removed the flag to disable the Download Bar a long time ago. You might find a Chromium Extension that offers similar functionality, but your mileage may vary.
